Project Description

The Family Village

The Imaani Orphanage project, “The Family Village”, is a hope for the future. Our vision is to provide a healthy and safe home for orphans in Umbumbulu providing them health, nutrition and most of all – love and care.

Who is an orphan?

A child who has lost one or both parents through death or disappearance, abandonment or desertion, separation or loss.
A child who has limited or no access to nutrition, health, safety, education or care…

53.1 million orphans are in Sub-Saharan Africa
132.2 million orphans worldwide

The test of a great Society

One of the measures of a great society is how it cares for the less privileged – the orphaned, the disadvantaged.

The Benefits

  • Children of Umbumbulu who are orphaned have the opportunity to grow up in a happy and loving home and contribute to our community with confidence.
  • That we as a community are prepared to make a statement that all children regardless of their parentage are important to us.
  • That we have donors in our muslim community who have the vision and compassion to put their money into assisting children who, through no fault of their own, are orphans.
  • The work we are doing for our orphaned children will show the community of the Umbumbulu, Kwazulu-Natal and South Africa that we as Muslims REALLY care about our orphaned kids. The donor’s vision for an orphanage REALLY is a good news story about Muslims and our values.

We Need

Donors who have the vision to assist the orphaned children in Umbumbulu by being part of the Imaani Orphanage project. Being part of this project you will be assisting our orphaned children in Umbumbulu to have the opportunity to reach their full potential as citizens of our South African community.

The Imaani Orphanage Project “The Family Village”

To provide needy orphans in Umbumbulu with a home, education, health and nutrition in order to help them grow up to be contributing members of the local and global community.

Can you comprehend the life of an orphan?

  • Left without family, they often must look after themselves – with no food and no clean drinking water
  • Their lives are often without love, security or even the basic comforts that we take for granted – a bed to sleep on or shelter from the sun and rain and food to eat.
  • They often have no access to education and hence no life skills to help later in life
  • They are often victims of crime and abuse
  • 7% of orphans are sold into human trafficking*
  • 1 in 10 commit suicide*…

Narrated Sahl bin Sa’d:

The Prophet said, “I and the person who looks after an orphan and provides for him, will be in Paradise like this,” putting his index and middle fingers together.
