The uMzinyathi Madrassa was established years ago by Apa Fathima Dlomo when she realized that her community did not know anything about Islam. Apa Fathima, a former spiritual healer who embraced Islam at the age of 49, runs the Madrassa in her backyard.
She moved to uMzinyathi in 2017, due to her financial state started begging for meals for her and her daughters. She used to hear about Islam and concluded that it was a religion for only Indians, so she never bothered about it, until she started dreaming and seeing her prostrate like how Muslims pray. She then went to the Durban CBD to try and figure out what the dream meant, she then met a Muslim man who showed her where IPCI is located. She started her classes at IPCI and came back to uMzinyathi and started teaching the other widows and their children all that she had learned at IPCI.
The Madressa was introduced to HUDA SA by a local Imam who stated that the Apa requested assistance and facilitation of their Madressa as she had no prior support. Initially, a position was assigned to a local Sheikh to assist in running the Madrassa. However, upon investigation by HUDA SA, it became apparent that all the work was being carried out by the Muallima, who was employed solely to teach the female students.

Apa Fathima Dlomo is currently unqualified to be a Muallima as she is learning Islam. the Madrassa is currently located in her backyard, which she technically doesn't own and the rondavel isn’t well-suitable to be a Madrassa.
A meeting was held on the 26th of July 2023, where various stakeholders in the Muslim Community were consulted to find a way forward in spreading Islam in the area.
The resolution that came from the attendees of the meeting was, that a task team is to be established that will assist in ensuring that the following is carried out in the uMzinyathi Ndimose Village Madressa:
1. Establish an Islamic Centre
2. Employ a Mualim & Muallima to assist Apa Fathima in promoting Islam in the area
3. Assist Apa Fathima & her family by building or purchasing a home for them.
4. Any Muslim Organisation is welcome to come on board to assist in promoting Islam in Ndimose Village

JazakaAllahu Khairun may Almighty Allah bless HUDA SA and partners everybody who has contributed towards our programs.
Working with HUDA SA is a great reward from Almighty Allah. As I write this message I'm in a class learning about Islam which I have wanted to do so many times HUDA SA, they have been consistent in supporting me regardless.
Not to forget the students I have they are so happy because of HUDA SA I can mention lots of things HUDA SA did for the students but what makes happier is the wheelchair that came for one of my students we all cried tears of joys.
